"Through the Eyes of Childhood" exhibition

"Through the Eyes of Childhood" is an exhibition displaying 49 photographs on the themes of wealth, poverty and the future, taken and commented on by children from Switzerland, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Guatemala, India, Madagascar and El Salvador. The children, from very different backgrounds, came up with some surprising ideas, which time and again force us to reflect on our own values.

The photographs were selected by a jury of 22 children from Geneva, brought together by the Acacias Neighbourhood Centre: the children were asked to choose the photos "they liked most", those "which surprised them and raised questions in their minds", and those "which best illustrated the themes of poverty, wealth and the future".

The exhibition is currently touring French-speaking and German-speaking Switzerland (forthcoming dates - in French). All the visitors say they have been touched by these pictures and comments made by children who live in very different circumstances.

In 2008, the exhibition was displayed on the banks of Lac Léman, at Quai Wilson and at the shopping center La Praille in Geneva, at the headquarter of the Industrial Services of Geneva and at the Foundation Le Repuis in Yverdon-les-Bains. In German-speaking Switzerland, "Through the Eyes of Childhood" was shown at the Karl der Grosse cultural centre in Zurich and in the Kornhausform in Bern.

In 2009, the exhibition was shown at the Fnac of Basel (in January and February) and at the cultural centre Alte Kaserne of Winterthur (March).
