Photo exhibition in Paris

11.29.2010 - Pictures showing the daily lives of the Mayas in the mountainous villages of northern Guatemala will be displayed at Mathis Entertainment Centre in Paris from November 29 to December 10, 2010.

They were taken by a group of French amateur photographers who visited Xch'ool Ixim, the local association which has been a long time partner of Enfants du Monde. Enfants du Monde funds bilingual schools for Maya children and trains teachers.

Charlotte Hug, member of the patronage board, Switzerland:
“I was very touched by what I saw in Bangladesh. Instead of insisting that parents send their children to school all day, the partner association of Enfants du Monde understood that schooling would have to be adapted to the reality of their situation. So, the children can go to school in the morning and, in the afternoon, they work to help their families. That’s what I call intelligent development assistance because it takes into consideration the actual needs of the population.”

With 225 Swiss francs, you enable a child to go to school for one year.
