Enfants du Monde education programmes

69 million children in the world are unable to go to school.

Enfants du Monde provides hope for the future to thousands of disadvantaged children and protects them from abuse and from child labour:

  • by offering quality primary education to children who have never been to school or have left school too early
  • by enabling girls to go to school
  • by offering good quality instruction, adapted to the needs and daily lives of children and their families
  • by training teachers and trainers so that educational quality can be improved

Burkina Faso:

"I have been attending a school supported by Enfants du Monde for three years. I am now beginning my final year. Here I learn not only to read and write, but also the techniques used in animal farming. This is very important for me, because we are all farmers. On Sundays, when I look after our animals, I apply what I have been taught during the week, after having talked it over with my parents – things such as how to feed, water and look after the cattle, sheep and goats."

Enfants du Monde supports programmes in Guatemala, Haiti, Burkina Faso, Niger and Bangladesh, in cooperation with local partners, universities and Education Ministries. These partnerships ensure that programmes will be sustainable over time.

Educational programmes supported by Enfants du Monde apply the pedagogical approach known as “Pedagogy of Text” (PoT), a method that helps improve educational quality by offering teaching that is adapted to local contexts and needs. Schools using this approach stand out in their assessments through excellent attendance and educational achievement records and through low drop-out rates.
